Thinking of buying a new home? Does the property have well water? If yes, then you need to have a water sample taken and tested.
The reason you want to have the water from a well tested is to ensure there are no contaminants in the water, i.e. E. coli bacteria. You want to live in a house with ‘potable’ water. This means you can drink the water from the tap, and use the water for normal household activities.
To ensure you have potable water, you need to take a water sample and have it tested. You can do this for free through the Public Health Laboratory, or you can use a private lab for a small fee.
